Initial work, in progress, on explorable timelapse of the sun, captured from the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO).

Images captured over a 24-hour period on December 6, 2010. Each frame is 16 megapixels.

SDO captures the sun using many wavelengths. This video uses the 30.4nm ultraviolet wavelength band, which is sensitive to light emitted from materials between roughly 60,000 to 80,000 degrees C.

Individual frames in this video were captured 24 seconds apart, and are displayed here at 25 frames per second, for a timelapse speedup of 600x.
